TAMIC PAC provides the opportunity for TAMIC members interested in the future of Texas Farm Mutuals and Texas’ property/casualty industry to contribute to the support of worthy candidates for state office who believe, and have demonstrated their beliefs in, free enterprise and other principles to which this industry is dedicated.
WHAT IS TAMIC PAC?
TAMIC PAC is a state Political Action Committee (PAC). A PAC enables employees or members of groups – such as TAMIC – to pool their political contributions and support candidates who will help the organization achieve its legislative objectives. TAMIC PAC unifies the voice of Texas Farm Mutuals to support insurance-friendly state candidates who advocate for open markets, free from unnecessary regulation, and burdensome litigation.
WHY DOES TAMIC NEED TAMIC PAC?
State law prohibits corporate contributions to candidates for state office. Your personal contribution to TAMIC PAC creates TAMIC’s only opportunity to provide financial support to political candidates. TAMIC also needs TAMIC PAC to compete with special interest groups that contribute millions of dollars annually to promote laws that will adversely affect your company at the state level.
WHY SHOULD I SUPPORT TAMIC PAC?
Every day, elected officials make decisions that impact your members, your employees, and your bottom line. Insurers need a voice. TAMIC PAC is one of the best vehicles that you can use to participate in the political process. The PAC gives you and your company the chance to join your voice with other insurance professionals so that lawmakers fully understand the important issues facing TAMIC members in their districts across this great state – and will stand up to protect us.
HOW ARE CONTRIBUTIONS TO CANDIDATES DETERMINED?
TAMIC PAC is governed by the TAMIC Legislative Committee, which is represented by at least one individual from each of its 17 member companies. The committee discusses important legislative issues facing TAMIC membership and compiles a list of industry-friendly candidates it would like to support.
